Privacy Policy

This site sells one PDF. We collect as little as we can get away with, and we never sell or trade any of it. Here is exactly what happens.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Smart Business Trading LTD, registered in England and Wales under company number 12251559, registered office 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, England. Data protection questions go to hola@vlc-guide.com and a human answers them.
What we collect and why

We never receive your card number. Stripe handles the payment and only tells us that it succeeded, for how much, and which email you used.
Cookies
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and there is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. Our analytics are cookie-free and count visits without building a profile of you. Cloudflare, who serve the site, may set a strictly necessary security cookie to filter out attack traffic.
Who else sees your data
Only the services we need to run this:
- Stripe handles payments. They are the controller of your payment data under their own privacy policy.
- Cloudflare hosts the site, serves the download links, and stores the email addresses described above.
- Resend sends the preview and purchase emails.
Some of these are US companies. Transfers out of the UK and EEA rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, and, where applicable, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension. Nobody else gets your data, and it is never sold.
Emails you get from us
If you ask for the preview, you get the preview, and from time to time something about the guide or the city. Every email can be stopped by replying with "unsubscribe". We will take you off and confirm it.
If you buy the guide, you also get the emails needed to deliver it. Those are part of the purchase, not marketing.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR (and the EU GDPR if you are in the EEA) you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, hand it over in a portable format, or object to it. You can withdraw consent at any time, which does not affect what we did before you withdrew it.
Email hola@vlc-guide.com and we will deal with it within a month, usually the same week. There is nothing to pay and you do not need to give a reason.
If we handle it badly you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office, or, if you are in the EEA, to the data protection authority where you live.
Security
Everything is served over HTTPS. Purchase records and email addresses sit in Cloudflare's storage, reachable only by this site's own code. IP addresses are hashed before they are written down, so the stored value cannot be turned back into your address.
This is a small operation, not a bank. We have taken sensible measures, but no system is perfect. If something ever goes wrong in a way that affects you, we will tell you, and the ICO too where the law requires it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, where the law requires it, tell you directly.
